Packages from home

I have sent a couple of small packages to Katie with some candy and photos and I don't really know what else she can use. Anybody have any other suggestions for something that the girls really enjoy or appreciate while they are in Africa? Also, if it is not too late, is there something that I could send for the family that she will be staying with? Thanks - and thanks to everyone for the stories and information that they have shared to date. I check out the blog every day and I'm so excited when I get to read something new - so keep it coming!

Mary,
Nilsa said her flavored powder packets where popular. Propel and Crystal Light brands that come in single serving pouches, sold in a box of ten, disguise the taste of the treated water. You can find them at Target and some grocery stores. If you mail them today, she'll receive the package the last day before she leaves Cape Town, assuming it takes no longer than three weeks to arrive.

Mary,
Often families send items to represent your region or state -- something that is unique to where Katie comes from (whether it be Canada or Florida). Also, girls sometimes bring small treats for the children (if there are any) in the family -- colored pencils or other school supplies, deflated soccer balls or similar toys. I hope this helps. You definitely want to get these items mailed soon though, as the international post can be so slow.
