Melissa's blog is fantastic. In particular, the Eshowe entry is very moving and powerful.
I am maintaining Nilsa's blog at www.NilsaTTS12.blogspot.com which is not open to the web site search engine. It tracks her whereabouts and any little tidbit I can extract from her. I'm finding it hard to verify the information because often times it is relayed to me out of sequence or with insufficient detail; hence, until now I was reluctant to publish it.
Sarah-- Thanks so much for sharing this. Sometimes it feels like a jigsaw puzzle to me-- trying to put all the little pieces together so that I feel more connected to the big picture. Reading what you've heard from Nilsa gives me another piece of the puzzle to work with.
I know what you mean about out of sequence conversations that lack detail. When we hear from Melissa it is like a whirlwind. First off I am so excited to hear her voice, then a hurried few stories on each end and soon we are saying goodbye. Even once she was home from South America last semester it felt like there were so many layers to it all-- a lot of which clearly would always belong to her and the other girls. What I could see without a doubt was that what they shared was very powerful and inspiring and she would carry it with her always.
